AFTERCARE

Waxing aftercare is very important if you want to have clear, ingrown hair free skin.

PLEASE FOLLOW THE ADVICE OF YOUR WAX SPECIALIST ALONG WITH THIS GUIDE:

  1. Stop shaving 3 weeks prior to wax. Hair should be at least ¼ long. (the size of a rice grain).
  2. Exfoliate the area 24-48 hours before your appointment.
  3. Take a warm bath or shower before your appointment. This will open up the pores and allow wax to grip hair easily with less pain.
  4. If the length of the hair is to long, trim. Long hair can be painful trim at least 1/5
  5. Wear comfortable clothing, this will prevent any irritation. Cotton undies are best!
  6. Don’t drink alcohol or other stimulants such as caffeine prior to wax. Stimulants tighten pores causing more pain for you.
  7. Users of Retin A, Accutane, or any anti-aging/skin thinning products are advised not to wax because these products weaken the skin and tearing my occur. Immediately after wax You’ve invested time, money, and a little discomfort so it makes sense to take care of it.  So read on…

Your hair follicle will be open after your wax for at least 24 hours so it is important to avoid the following:

  1. Avoid tanning/sunbathing for at least 12 hours (have your wax done at least the day before your vacation).
  2. No swimming in chlorinated pool for 24 hours.
  3. No spa baths or sauna.
  4. Intense workout.
  5. For underarms, no deodorant for 12 hours.
  6. Sexual Activity should be avoided for 24 hours.
  7. No Makeup if face was waxed.

3-10 days after waxing, as your skin closes over the follicle, the nest step is to ensure you prevent ingrown hairs.


This happens when new, softer hair gets trapped under the skin.

  • Use a soft exfoliating glove or brush 3 times a week. This is particularly important after about day 3-10.
  • Use a product like an after wax serum/lotion
  • Stay away from products that leave a heavy film or residue on the skin. Following this guide will really help make your next wax a whole lot quicker and less painful.
